As I said below, I've never really gotten the hang of Lightrooms de-noise and sharpen tools so for me I am really happy with the results, but I can't say for sure how it would be for someone who already does a good job in Lightroom. How big of an improvement over doing it manually in Lightroom, honestly, I don't know. I started out doing smaller batches on my photos and doing comparisons, and for the vast majority of photos it makes a really nice improvement. Update: Alright, for anybody who comes across it, here is an update. I very briefly tried Topaz's de-noise this morning and greatly prefer how you can right-click a photo from in Lightroom and edit in Topaz then save back to LR, but their massive watermark in the middle of the photo makes it hard to use a bunch and evaluate. I'm curious how people here use it and what would be recommended for my use case.ĭo you audit every file first to see what could use a bit of extra help, or just pop everything through PureRaw? Once processed do you A/B every file to make sure it hasn't gone a bit plastic-y, or in general is it pretty safe? Safe enough that for my use case you'd recommend throwing everything through and deleting the originals right after?

I downloaded a trial of PureRaw this morning, which I've seen praised here a bunch, but the workflow and lack of settings has be a bit lost. With that said, I like to still make them look as nice as I can. I tend to save shots that capture a moment I like, even if it's out of focus, crazy noisey, or with wonky exposure. I shoot on a Sony A7ii with a small handful of lenses (usually the 35mm or 85mm 1.8s), and have a flash that I use semi-frequently.ĭue to constantly changing environments and a child that never stops moving for more than a quarter second at a time, I do the best I can but results are all over the map. I've got a year and a half old and take a tonne of photos at every occasion. Sorry if this is a bit long, but it's probably best to get some context for my questions.
