I left the spa half satisfied, until the next days came. I had to ask her to extend the liner, do the little wing at least, because I just didn’t want to step out on the streets, I felt so ugly.Īnyway. I’m not getting into details because it would just piss me off but: 1) no matching foundation, 2) no proper use of brushes, 3) no knowledge on what a person with close set eyes should wear and how, 4) the eyeliner made my eyes smaller than they ever were. She did everything what you see in the “how you shouldn’t do your makeup” videos.

Very delicate topic and I’m overly judgmental because I’m a professional makeup artist, too and I’m yet to find someone in a regular spa who knows what’s the deal and is actually able to do other people’s makeup not just her/his own. I’m still wondering how does the polish lasts 10 times longer on your toenails. I asked for a blush, pastel color on both my hands and feet. We talked a lot, she was chatty, friendly and polite. Lunch-time was the highlight of the whole day at this point.

All the tension was still there but now, my skin and muscles hurt, too because they took the “beating” from the therapist. The sad thing is though that I didn’t feel better after.

Well, did she take everything word by word. I told the masseuse to not to be gentle, because I’m all stiff and tense. It felt good, it was relaxing, and I almost fell asleep too. The reason being: it will help to get rid of the dead skin and reveal the healthy, new one. She chose not to treat it with a standard facial, but with a gentle (or so I was told) peeling. Anyways, a beauty therapist should know all this just by looking at and touching my skin. It became so dry, so flaky that I had to change my daily skincare routine completely. My skin was done and called it a day, basically giving me the finger, saying “you must be crazy, woman, I’m out”. Not to mention the fact that I moved from a humid, “it’s-always-summer-and-100-degrees” place to a winter in Nola. I always had dry-combination, acne-prone skin.

I have to be extremely careful and picky about what do I put on it. Here’s the deal though: my skin on my face (and in general – who am I kidding?) is overly sensitive. The day came and I was happy to be greeted by a beautiful store, a gorgeous interior and a very attentive staff.

It includes manicure, pedicure, EarthSavers facial, a full body massage, light and healthy lunch and optional makeup touch up at the end. I made the appointment and chose the “Day of Relaxation” package which cost me $230. I did some research and EarthSavers Spa won having everything I needed in one package, for a very reasonable price. After all the stress and anxiety and long days, I definitely needed a big ol’ relaxing day. That being said, it’s quite obvious what my next step was. It was a few days after my 31st birthday and a life-changing move, leaving behind a month of working non-stop to finally get to the Big Easy.
